Project: GPS Antenna Distribution Amplifier

Design Services Performed:

Description:

GPS distribution amplifier for sharing one GPS antenna with two pieces of equipment in a communications base station. The design consists of a LNA, Wilkinson splitter, buffer amplifiers and phantom power supply. Port to port isolation is > 50 dB on all ports as this is a very important parameter in this type of application to prevent one GPS receiver from interfering with another. The two layer PCB was designed with Coplanar waveguide over groundplane techniques for very low sensitivity to manufacturing tolerances and very low assembly costs.

  • 3 dB gain, 4.4 dB Noise figure at 1575 MHz center frequency with 130 MHz -3 dB bandwidth.
  • > 17 dB return loss on all ports.
  • > 50 dB port to port isolation.
  • 3 to 20 VDC input voltage at 20 mA.
  • Environmentally rugged design, -40 to 70 Deg C operating range, fully ESD protected.
