Description:
In many
cases it's just hard to beat the pricing on many of the
pre-built 300 MHz RF modules (as pictured above). These
modules are useful in OOK (On Off Keying) applications and
data rates to 2400 baud. Specialized coding with checksums,
forward error correction, remote control codes or Manchester
coding is available for applications that need it. When it
comes to coding simple is usually better, and standard
remote control formatting like RC-5, etc. provide ready to
use solutions. The applications are mostly one way in nature
like a TV remote but these modules also find use in remote
sensor transmission applications. Range is usually limited
from room to room indoors and up to 1/4 mile outdoors. With
a PIC microprocessor controlling the data transmission /
reception really clever applications can be devised. In high
volume applications the transmitter and/or receiver may be
integrated on a larger system board to reduce cost even
more.
