Description:
This synthesizer was
designed to drive a low cost VHF Aircraft Band receiver, but
it has applications to any VHF radio in the 75 to 180 MHz
band. Low phase noise and reference feed through were also
design goals. The design was implemented in just a few day's
and was fully tested and characterized. Code was written to
allow the synthesizer to be turned on and programmed, thus
eliminating extra firmware support from the client.
- Very low cost Local
Oscillator (LO) implementation.
- 3 wire PLL
interface.
- Single supply
operation.
- Reference spur
suppression > 80 dBc.
- Tuning steps of 5, 6.25,
8.33, 10, 12.5 or 25 kHz
- 20 MHz tuning range
anywhere in the 75 to 180 MHz band.
- Phase noise of 115 dBc /
Hz at 10 kHz offset.
- 0 dBm output
power.
- Self contained low
noise, low drift, crystal reference oscillator.
- RF and PSpice
simulations used to verify and optimize the VCO
design.
